Omega-3 – EPA & DHA
With 41% Omega 3, 10% EPA and 7% DHA, this formula promotes healthy skin and a soft, radiant coat.
ALA
Alpha-linolenic acid is a precursor of the Omega-3 family. From it, the body synthesizes other Omega-3 fatty acids, notably EPA and DHA to promote healthy skin and silky coat.
Omega-6
Omega-6 participates in the structure of cell membranes. Provided in controlled quantities, they promote a good immune system, healthy growth and strengthen the skin’s lipid barrier.
A high Omega-3
to Omega-6 ratio
While both Omega-3 & 6 fatty acids are important, it’s essential to provide more Omega-3, with its anti-inflammatory effect, than Omega-6, with its pro-inflammatory effect, to avoid health problems, in particular skin disorders.
Did you know?
« The skin is the largest organ in dogs and cats. Together with the coat, it constitutes an important barrier against external aggressors such as parasites, pollen and temperature variations. »
Treatsy Skin & Coat functional oils allow you to strengthen your dog or cat’s skin barrier, beautify their coat and improve the quality of their coat.
The skin and coat are the largest organ in dogs and cats and play an essential role in their health. (…)
The skin acts as an important barrier against external aggressors, and the outermost layer of the skin has a structure that could be compared to a wall, with bricks and mortar. If animals suffer from a defective skin barrier, we could consider this as cracks in this thick wall, leaving the door open to all possible external aggressions such as pollen and parasites.
Additionally, the skin is an important part of the immune system. Besides this, it plays an important role in maintaining the hydration of the animal. Dogs and cats do not have sweat glands, so loss of moisture in the skin would lead to several health problems. Finally, it serves as a storage for important nutrients such as proteins, amino acids, and enzymes.
The coat, on the other hand, can be thought of as an insulating layer that keeps your pet’s body temperature regulated.
Caring for your pet’s skin and coat involves “filling the cracks” caused by wear and tear. Feeding your cat or dog the right nutrients will allow the skin to renew itself and fill in those cracks.
How does it work?
Treatsy Skin & Coat functional oil is composed of a blend of natural oils which provide the Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids that your pet needs.
1 – Omega-3 fatty acids, EPA & DHA: these essential fatty acids are scientifically proven to bring health benefits for dogs and cats, particularly for the skin and coat. With more than 41% Omega-3, 10% EPA and 7% DHA present in our oil, they play a crucial role in fighting the inflammatory cycle and thus promote the healing of skin wounds.
2 – Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA): a precursor of the Omega-3 family, it allows the body of dogs and cats to synthesize other Omega-3 fatty acids including EPA and DHA which allow them to effectively fight against inflammation, which boost the elasticity of the skin, and which promote the reconstitution of the epidermis.
3 – Omega-6 fatty acids: these fatty acids are essential for reconstituting the lipid layer present on the skin of dogs and cats. Provided in controlled quantities, Omega-6 also promotes the regrowth of dense, smooth and shiny hair.
4 – A high Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio: by providing much more Omega-3 than Omega-6, our functional oil helps effectively fight inflammation at all levels (skin, joints, etc.). The Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio in our oil is 6,2:1. In other words, there are 6,2 times more Omega-3 than Omega-6 in Treatsy Skin & Coat functional oil!
To obtain a sublime coat for your dog or cat, combine the use of this Treatsy oil with our Treatsy Skin & Coat treats. These provide a high concentration of vitamins and minerals essential to obtaining healthy skin and a soft, dense and radiant coat.
1/2 teaspoon per day (2.5 ml) per 5kg of weight. Increase gradually by 2.5ml per 5kg.
We recommend pouring the daily dose of oil onto your pet’s usual dry or wet food.
